Shekinah: The Inner Dwelling Place Opens at the Cultural Council
Lake Worth Beach artist Asandra solo exhibition transforms Sacred Symbolism into Immersive Visual Portals
Lake Worth Beach, Fla. (April 30, 2026) – The Cultural Council for Palm Beach County welcomes its next solo exhibition, Shekinah: The Inner Dwelling Place, featuring works by Lake Worth Beach-based Asandra.
Asandra draws on sacred cultures to create vibrant paintings that blend pattern, symbol, geometry, and color. Working with acrylic on wood and large-scale stamps, her Shekinah series transforms panels into portals, exploring the presence of the sacred and the balance between inner dwelling and engagement with the world.
“Shekinah is the English transliteration of a Hebrew word and denotes the presence of the sacred in a place. It is the connection to both the sacred as well as a literal home. To find our way in the current state of the world, we need not retreat from it but exist within it without losing our equilibrium. Shekinah, as a spiritual concept, represents this perspective,” said Asandra.
Asandra’s paintings and prints reflect her spirituality through vibrant color and symbolic imagery. She has exhibited in solo and group shows in New York, Washington, Florida, Colorado, North Carolina, and California. Her artwork hangs in numerous hotel chains throughout the USA including Marriott and The Omni.
Director of Artist Services Jessica Ransom believes Asandra’s work will bring a sense of calm, meditative spirit to the solo gallery. It will be a transformative space for visitors to pause and relax in the moment.
The exhibition will be on view in the Gayle and Paul Gross Gallery from Friday, May 15 to Friday, June 26, 2026. The exhibition is free and open to the public at the Cultural Council’s headquarters located in downtown Lake Worth Beach (Location & Public Hours).
Guests are invited to an opening reception of Shekinah: The Inner Dwelling Place on Thursday, May 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. The reception is free to attend; however, we kindly ask guests to RSVP.
The Council’s 2025-2026 season of exhibitions is generously sponsored by the Tourist Development Council, the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners, the Florida Division of Arts & Culture, and Florida Weekly.
