Lake Worth Beach, Fla. (October 8, 2026) – The Cultural Council for Palm Beach County’s first solo exhibition of its 2026-2027 season will feature the works of West Palm Beach resident Bogdan Kravchenko. The exhibition opens with a reception on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 5 – 7 p.m. and will be on view through Saturday, December 5, 2026.

Kravchenko’s work is an exploration of the coastal landscape, filtered through a lens of contemporary minimalism and space abstraction. Subjects include lifeguard towers, endless clouds, skies, and the flat coastal landscapes that are rooted in the diverse world of the shoreline.

“I propose looking at the lifeguard tower and the person sitting in it through a philosophical lens. What looks like a summer job is actually a rich canvas of existential, stoic, and emotional themes. The beach represents civilization, safety, and social order. The ocean represents the sublime—vast, indifferent, and chaotic,” said Kravchenko.

The exhibition will feature a collection of 21 oil paintings of varying sizes, and will be curated by Jessica Ransom, the Cultural Council’s director of artist services.

“Bogdan’s luminescent works are a joy to behold and will offer a quiet, meditative moment for visitors to the Cultural Council as we reopen our galleries this fall,” said Ransom.

Originally from Ukraine, Kravchenko studied at the Kyiv Academy of Art, where his training included book graphics and illustration. His subsequent career in advertising and design further shaped an approach grounded in composition, form, and visual communication.

“In my works, I have introduced sharp, translucent stripes of color that slice through the sky or anchor the foreground. These elements act as visual filters, mimicking the way memory or digital mediation alters our perception of a place. They provide a structural rhythm to the ‘sparkling ocean’ or the ‘peaceful clouds,’ forcing a dialogue between the endless horizon and the structured nature of modern thought,” said Kravchenko.

Selected through a highly competitive application process, Kravchenko is one of six Palm Beach County-based professional artists whose work was chosen by a committee of visual art professionals for one of the Cultural Council’s coveted solo exhibition spots during its 2026-2027 season.

The public is invited to view the exhibition in the Gayle and Paul Gross Gallery, which is located inside the Cultural Council’s historic Robert M. Montgomery, Jr. Building at 601 Lake Avenue, Lake Worth Beach. The Cultural Council is currently open to the public Tuesdays through Fridays from 12 to 5 p.m. The return of Saturday hours will be announced on the Cultural Council’s website soon. Admission is free.
