Cultural Council’s Latest Solo Exhibition Showcases the Intricacies of Everyday Life

Using elements like tea leaves and herbs, Luciana Boaventura captures the convergence of nature, memories, and transformation

LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL — The Cultural Council for Palm Beach County is pleased to announce its latest solo exhibition, “Fragile Beauty: Steeped in Life”. Featuring works by Delray Beach-based artist Luciana Boaventura, the exhibition will run Friday, April 11 through Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Council’s headquarters in Lake Worth Beach.

The artist draws inspiration from deep sensitivity to the intricate interplay between memory, time, and nature. As a flower therapist, Boaventura uses floral essences to promote healing and overall well-being. The practice was first recorded in the 1930s by Dr. Edward Bach, an English physician and homeopath.

In the exhibition, Boaventura continues to harness the power of nature. Using papers dyed with teas and herbs, interwoven with leaves and seeds, her pieces capture life’s transient moments. Her mixed media art reflects interconnectedness and the fragility of memory, guiding others toward healing and self-discovery—each piece a metaphor for the shared experiences of living beings. All artworks are for sale, and a majority of the proceeds go back to the artist.

“Luciana’s work is a continuous exploration of the delicate, and often invisible, connections that link humanity to the natural world,” says Boaventura’s artist statement. “Her materials—simple yet rich in meaning—serve as metaphors for the impermanence of life and the ongoing processes of growth, decay, and rebirth.”

Boaventura’s focus on simple items invite viewers to rediscover the quiet beauty of everyday life.

“Luciana’s work is a subtle alchemy, transforming the seemingly mundane tea bag into a magical work of art,” says Jessica Ransom, director of artist services. “Her mixed media compilations of tea bags, flowers, and paper evince lush forests of leaves and flowers with a soothing, meditative quality. I expect the work will transform the gallery into a serene space where people will long sit and ponder just how the work is made while simply enjoying the beautiful results.”

Selected through a highly competitive application process, Boaventura is one of six Palm Beach County-based professional artists whose work was chosen by a committee of visual art professionals for one of the Cultural Council’s coveted Gayle and Paul Gross Gallery solo exhibition spots during its 2024-2025 season.

The solo exhibition is free and open to the public. It runs from Friday, April 11 through Saturday, May 17, 2025. The Cultural Council will host an opening reception for “Fragile Beauty: Steeped in Life” on Thursday, April 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., coinciding with the Biennial 2025 reception.
