BoyntonArts, the City of Boynton Beach’s Public Art Program, is actively seeking proposals for murals to be created on privately-owned buildings within the City. In March of 2022, the City Commission established the new Mural Program to encourage the creation of outdoor murals through collaboration of the public, private and non-profit sectors. The City of Boynton Beach aspires to be known as a destination with a beautiful and meaningful set of murals that reflects its community, culture and artists.
Neighborhood groups, non-profit organizations and artists are encouraged to begin the process by collaborating with property owners or by recommending City owned walls. The deadline to apply for the Mural Program is Tuesday, June 7 at 5 p.m. Final projects will be chosen through a review and set of evaluation criteria by the Boynton Beach Art Advisory Board. The funding comes from the Public Art Fund; matching grants of up to $5,000 are available for those accepted into the program.
The new Mural Program will revitalize the visual appearance of buildings and other walls while reinforcing the identity, pride, and distinction of specific districts and neighborhoods throughout Boynton Beach. Each mural will have a lifespan of at least five years and can be hand-painted or incorporate hand-tiled mosaics, carved or etched masonry, digitally printed images or digitally displayed systems.
To enhance the scale and quality of the murals and spark community engagement, volunteer participation is encouraged.
