Eclectic and Multi-Cultural

Cultural Council BuildingAs the home of the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, it’s only natural that Lake Worth Beach is regarded as a focal point of the county’s arts scene. Rich with history and flowing with creativity, the city has much to offer, any given day of the year.

Start with the Cultural Council itself, located in Robert M. Montgomery, Jr. building – originally the 1940s-era Lake Theater. The Council presents changing exhibitions and offers a Cultural Information Center that will help you set the stage for your cultural explorations not just of Lake Worth Beach, but all of Palm Beach County. Opportunities for entertainment and enlightenment abound in the venerable Lake Worth Beach Playhouse and the Duncan Theatre on the Lake Worth Beach campus of Palm Beach State College.

Festivals are a key component of the city’s thriving cultural scene. The remarkable Street Painting Festival in February transforms asphalt into art, while the annual Reggae Fest in April highlights the music and culture of the islands.

Always fun, funky and festive, Lake Worth Beach is a multi-cultural destination you’ll want to visit again and again.

An artsy neighborhood – the perfect backdrop for the County’s official arts agency, the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County

Downtown Lake Worth Beach, located in the central part of Palm Beach County, captivates visitors with its neighborhood feel and sense of diversity. The city’s boutiques, galleries, restaurants and famous old theater, the Lake Worth Playhouse, make for a unique South Florida experience. It’s also the location of The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, the County’s umbrella arts agency headquartered in the iconic Robert M. Montgomery, Jr. building at 601 Lake Avenue in the heart of downtown. Click here for more information on visiting the Cultural Council to pick up information on cultural events throughout the county, browse local artist creations in the gift store or enjoy the Council’s current exhibition, highlighting Palm Beach artists.

Lots of festivals

That community feeling is supported and encouraged by the City of Lake Worth Beach, which produces “Evening on the Avenues” on the first and third Thursdays of each month, and co-sponsors the world-famous Street Painting Festival each February, when the streets of Lake and Lucerne Avenues are transformed into colorful masterpieces. Lake Worth Beach also plays host to Bonfires on the Beach, Reggae Fest, outdoor jazz concerts and art walks.
