The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County will soon open its latest exhibition, “Play with Your Food!” on Friday, Sept. 14 at the Council’s historic headquarters in downtown Lake Worth.
Delights of the culinary world often lead to once-in-a-lifetime experiences that evoke comfort, tradition and culture. Food is also one of the ties that bind and bring friends and families together. Since people tend to eat with their eyes first, in this exhibition, 22 artists are encouraged to “play” with their food and create works of art in all media, where food is transformed into something timeless.
“Play with Your Food!” features the following Palm Beach County artists:
Wendy Boucher
Erika Cespedes
Joel Cohen
John Cutrone
Nazare Feliciano
Nicole Galluccio
Ray Gross
Julia Longwell
Anita Lovitt
Patricia Maldonado
Nicole Newsted
Luis Montoya &
Leslie Ortiz
James Rabidoux
Manon Sander
Barry Seidman
Karla Walter
Marilyn Walter
Gillian Kennedy Wright
“As cultures have crossed paths quickly over last few decades, food has a new relationship – not just in a top chef’s life, but also in the home cook’s,” said Nichole M. Hickey, manager of artist services at the Council. “This exhibition takes that mentality: the seriousness of a high-end commercial photographer (Michelin star status) to the playful hands-on sculptor (the home-schooled baker). The range of work on display will satisfy everyone’s taste.”
