On Saturday, the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County was awarded $16,500 from the 2019 Great Charity Challenge, presented by Fidelity Investments, after participating in the annual philanthropic event.

The GCC is a relay-style jumping competition that allows the equestrian world to give back to Palm Beach County nonprofits. Teams consist of two junior riders and one Olympic rider. Each team is randomly paired with one of the selected charities.

ā€œWe were thrilled to participate in this year’s competition,ā€ said Dave Lawrence, the Council’s president & CEO. ā€œThanks to the Great Charity Challenge and the extraordinary support of donors and sponsors, we can grow our support to cultural organizations for arts education and capacity building initiatives throughout The Palm Beaches.ā€

This year’s theme, ā€œWe are the Worldā€, celebrated cultural differences and unity in Palm Beach County. In honor of the theme, riders and their horses were adorned in colors inspired by their ā€œcountryā€.

After completing an application and vetting process, the Cultural Council and 25 other nonprofits were randomly selected through a drawing last December to participate in the Great Charity Challenge. All Palm Beach County 501(c)(3) organizations are invited to apply each year, and every charity selected this year won a guaranteed minimum of $15,000.
