WORKSHOP: Observation and Imagination–Painting the Natural World

Come to The Palm Beaches for the weather, the water, the gorgeous light–and this 5-day intensive art workshop!

For 20 years, The Armory Art Center’s Visiting Master Artist Workshop Series has offered unparalleled educational opportunities for participants to study with contemporary master artists from around the country.

Visiting master artist Ying Li’s workshop gives abstract and representational artists a way to explore techniques and concepts of painting that emphasize individual style and themes. Li helps participants transform basic images into personal statements by experimenting with original ideas and techniques.

Li is a painter and professor of fine arts at Haverford College in Pennsylvania. Born in Beijing, China, she earned a B.F.A. from Anhui Normal University, China, in 1977 before immigrating to the U.S. in 1983.  Since completing an M.F.A. at Parsons School of Design in 1987, she has exhibited at the American Academy of Arts and Letters, The National Academy Museum, the New York Studio School, Tibor de Nagy Gallery, and the Centro Incontri Umani Ascona in Switzerland, and had her work reviewed in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Art Forum, Art in America, New York Sun, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Hyperallergic, artcritical, and The Washington Post.
