Serious athlete’s and dancers know there’s no crying in baseball or ballet, at least not this ballet! Boca Ballet Theatre’s “Spring Ball” concert features an exciting mixed program that features Christopher Fleming’s lively ballet, Play Ball! It’s a fun-loving ballet that pays homage to “the grand ole game” and celebrates the men and women of the professional baseball leagues in the 1940s. To “prep” for this performance, members of Lynn University’s baseball team gave the dancers a quick lesson in baseball-specific moves, like throwing, catching, sliding and pitching. The results are magical.
In this mixed repertory program, baseball isn’t the only story to be told, however. Also on the program is Dan Guin’s Voyage Classique and Michael Fokine’s Les Sylphides.
Established in December of 1990, Boca Ballet Theatre is the 5th largest dance company in Florida and one of the top civic companies in the United States.
