Soprano Julia Bullock, “an impressive rising soprano . . . poised for a significant career,” according to the New York Times, joins pianist John Arida to open the 2018-19 season of the Chamber Music Society of Palm Beach. The duo will present an intimate and diverse program that combines German, English, and French song (works by Schubert, Barber and Faure) with a tribute to some of America’s greatest lady blues/jazz singers: Nina Simone, Billy Holiday and Alberta Hunter.
Bullock curates a series of five concerts at The Metropolitan Museum in NY and performs at major venues worldwide. Her longtime musical partner, John Arida, is a highly regarded pianist and coach based in New York City. Arida specializes in both opera and art song, and also serves on the music staff at the Juilliard School, Virginia Opera and Central City Opera, as well as the Prototype Festival.
