Ballet Palm Beach has transformed F. Scott Fitzgerald’s great American novel, The Great Gatsby, into an original and compelling dance drama. Set in the Roaring Twenties, the tale unfolds through the eyes of Nick Carraway, a neighbor of Jay Gatsby, who’s pursuit of Daisy Buchanan leads to amazing wealth and tragic endings. Smith’s captivating choreography is matched to music by Django Reinhardt, Fats Waller, Richard Whiting, Aaron Copland and other greats from the 1920’s, insuring a strong vintage vibe within this fresh, energetic 21st-century stage work. This fully staged ballet will be presented in a new venue for the company: The Page Family Center for the Performing Arts, King’s Academy in West Palm Beach. Please note that this work is recommended for ages 10 and up, and that no babies in arms or strollers are allowed in the auditorium.
