Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s popular production of “Born Yesterday” continues through November 12. It’s a timeless tale of what happens when a big shot, hot-tempered, corrupt tycoon heads to Washington, D.C., with a naive bombshell of a girlfriend. Since Billie Dawn isn’t quite cutting it in highbrow society, boyfriend Harry schemes to transform her into a cultured, classy lady. Naturally, he relies on help from his friends in low places. In time, Billie’s wit turns out to be sharper than his in this classic American screwball comedy.
The production stars a Drama Desk Award winner, Andréa Burns, as ex-showgirl Billie Dawn. Written by visionary playwright Garson Kanin, “Born Yesterday,” was popularized in 1950 and 1993 film adaptations.
