Interested in starting or expanding your art collection—or even learning more about the process? The Cultural Council makes it easy for collectors to access important work by both established and emerging Palm Beach County artists. When you purchase a piece from the Council, you’re directly benefiting local artists and supporting our mission to grow arts and culture in Palm Beach County.
Special guest John J. McGurk, Director of GAVLAK Gallery Palm Beach, will host a 45-minute presentation followed by questions and a tour in the Main Gallery led by Director of Artist Services Jessica Ransom.
About John J. McGurk:
John J. McGurk has been collecting, curating, and trading contemporary art for over two decades. A graduate of RISD, where he founded a student-led curatorial project using abandoned spaces around campus, he has more recently been active with galleries and art collectors in various capacities. Starting his collecting with the well-known printmakers in Providence, RI, he started his collection with works on paper. Generally focused on emerging and unknown artists, he enjoys acquiring and supporting artists in the beginning of their careers. Currently the Director of GAVLAK Palm Beach, he works closely with more established artists and collectors both nationally and internationally.
