This energetic, expressive ensemble of two will definitely surprise you. Japanese violinist Hirono Sugimoto and American cellist Phillip Borter met by chance in Germany in 2009. Their fascination with travel, innovative styles of music-making, and each other has since led to the creation of Duo-B while both were graduate students at the Eastman School of Music. Unique in the classical music world, Duo-B gets high praise for a passionate musical commitment, creative style, and original programming for this atypical combination of instruments. They’ve made music together across three continents, including landmark performances in Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theater, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Universität der Künste in Berlin, and Minatomirai Hall in Yokohama, Japan. Most recently they were welcomed as featured guest artists at the 2017 Iowa Composer’s Forum and will serve as string faculty at the 2018 Killington Music Festival.
Their 2018 Florida tour showcases a variety of musical styles and include music by Gliere, Zilcher, Bach, Clarke, Henryson, O’Conner and Piazzola–should make for a fun Sunday afternoon–and at a bargain price, too!
$10; Senior and students, $5. (561) 707-4251 or at the door.
