David Walker is the general and artistic director of Palm Beach Opera, and oversaw its operations during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, which moved him to innovate. He came to the opera company from a successful career as a countertenor and a specialization in the music of the Baroque. Greg Stepanich of Palm Beach ArtsPaper talks to Walker about his company as well as the state of opera worldwide and in the U.S. in particular. Is opera still a viable medium, or does it have to radically change to remain viable?
