Inspired by Great Works of Art, the Premiere of Pinturas
Demetrius Klein Dance Company (DKDC) continues its performance season with new Artistic Director, Kristen Vencel, and the premiere of Pinturas on Saturday, March 2 at 8:00 pm at Memorial Presbyterian Church in West Palm Beach. The performance will also include recent favorites choreographed by Vencel.
Pinturas is a series of five sections inspired by paintings at the Norton Museum of Art, with each section differing in style, cast, and music genre. “I love falling in love with works of art at the museum, and over the past few months, these five specific paintings have struck me and stayed in my mind, leading me to create dances to express what they each compel me to think and feel,” says Vencel.
DKDC’s Development Director, Ann Kreucher, shares “This program is one that really highlights the diversity of inspiration Kristen uses to create dance. The audience will see modern dance inspired by salsa, tango, ballet, hip hop, jazz, and even folk dance. It’s truly a mix of various approaches to modern dance while maintaining the specific voice of our Artistic Director.”
Demetrius Klein Dance Company (501c3) is the oldest modern dance company in Palm Beach County and reaches out to the community by presenting dance in many venues and spaces, encouraging everyone to participate in the experience of dance.
