ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM 1 Day immersive WORKSHOP Led by Janie Reisler -—————————————————- Join Janie Reisler for a NEW full day, Painting Workshop to study and create a piece in the style ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM, inspired by art history masters as well as contemporary artists of today. What to expect: The workshop will begin with a brief review of Abstract Expressionist artists you may recognize such as Lee Krasner, Willem de Kooning, and Mark Rothko, as well as showcase contemporary artists who are working in Abstract Expressionism today and how it has evolved as a genre. Students will then be able to practice brush strokes and mark making, and explore color palette on paper and canvas paper before moving on to their final canvas. This is a chance to think outside of the lines, and experiment with color choice and medium. Abstract Expressionism is a gestural and active practice, documenting the movement of the artist’s hand on the canvas! Materials included in the workshop: brushes, pallet knives, assorted acrylic paints, gel mediums, oil sticks, and more. *Students must bring their own stretched and primed canvas, at least 18” x 24”. Can be square or rectangle.
