“The arts are what make us human and for me to support an organization that is trying to help the arts, across the board, is important,” says Green when asked why she’s supported the Cultural Council since 2010. She offers her perspective on how the cultural sector makes an impact: “What people don’t understand is, the arts generate money in a community. For every dollar that is spent on let’s say, a theatre ticket, there’s money that’s spent at a restaurant, or for parking…it spurs economic activity in the community, outside of the arts.”
When it comes to Culture & Cocktails, you can hear the excitement in her voice. “One of the reasons that I sponsor [Culture & Cocktails] is because it’s a terrific way for people to learn who’s in our community. We’ve had some wonderful speakers in the past…and I believe in it. It’s fun for the community and it’s also an easy way to introduce people to become a member of the Cultural Council.“
We thank Roe for her support, and leave you with her final thought: “It’s important to keep [the arts] alive…and the community has to get behind it. ”
