Bert Korman: An Advocate for Arts, Business and Education

Bert and Sallie KormanBert Korman and his wife, Sallie, have long served the cultural sector as advocates for arts education through their relationships with the Cultural Council, Maltz Jupiter Theatre, the Society of the Four Arts and the Center for Creative Education, among many others.

Bert’s professional life as a Philadelphia-based real estate developer and investor started shortly after serving in the U.S. Army in 1956. After spending decades working for a number of family-owned realty companies, including the 102-year-old Korman Residential Properties, Bert and Sallie now spend their winters here in Palm Beach County.

When it comes to supporting the cultural sector in Palm Beach County, Bert describes his philosophy: “There are many reasons to support [culture] here. It’s very good for the young people. It’s very good for the economy. It’s very good for everybody. We provide a lot of jobs and, quite frankly, I think the quality of life here is a direct result of what [we] have to offer. It’s about more than sunshine and beaches and it’s evolving, that’s for sure.”

According to Bert, “the whole idea is to provide an environment where people want to come down here, find a rich life beyond their jobs, one where their children grow up in an area where there are opportunities for them to develop.”
