Step back in time with vintage photography
The glitz and glamour of America’s early-20th century is on display in full force at one of The Palm Beaches’ oldest institutions: the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum. “Star Power” is an exhibition featuring the work of one of the world’s most iconic portrait photographers, Edward Steichen, and includes intimate black-and-white photos of celebrities such as Amelia Earhart, Fred Astaire, George Gershwin, Shirley Temple, Walt Disney and more. An excellent start to any stellar Palm Beach Prelude weekend!
A stupendous symphony takes the stage
Eager for a night of classical music? Palm Beach Symphony will perform a dizzying array of work from 19th and 20th century composers including Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Borodin and Wolf-Ferrari at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, December 2. The performance, titled “Symphonic Tales,” will also feature guest performances from Master Chorale of South Florida…a show not to be missed by any fan of music!
An expertly-crafted ballet classic
It’s December and the holidays are fast approaching—and there’s no better way to celebrate the season than with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.” With stunning sets and costumes, take your trip to the Enchanted Kingdom as Ballet Palm Beach will present this annual delight for audiences young and old at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts throughout the Palm Beach Prelude weekend. Don’t miss this opportunity to take in a night of dance with the entire family!
Premiere theatrical performance in Boca Raton
On the lookout for bleeding-edge, contemporary theatre? Seeing a performance at FAU Theatre Lab in Boca Raton is a no-brainer for any fan of new and notable works of the American stage. Head to the theater (situated on the ground floor of a Florida Atlantic University dormitory building), get your tickets and grab a seat to see the southeastern U.S. premiere performance of “Tar Beach,” written by Tammy Ryan. Better yet, bring a friend and enjoy the show!
One-of-a-kind art space in West Palm Beach
For the best of the best in Palm Beach County’s local art scene, you’ll want to make a stop at The Satellite, a project of the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County. Located within West Palm Beach’s CityPlace, the space boasts a number of site-specific installations, including “Reimagine,” a pop-up collection of small shows from the Cultural Council’s past. Take it all in before hopping on your Brightline train to Art Basel Miami—you won’t regret it.
