When you imagine a vacation to Florida’s Cultural Capital, the image is clear—magnificent museums, fantastic festivals, and night after night of music and art.
For those arts and cultural vacationers who are looking specifically for both nature and arts experiences—look no further than the northern cities of The Palm Beaches. Here are four of the area’s top locations to explore:
Maltz Jupiter Theatre
Fans of the stage are always in for a stunning show at Maltz Jupiter Theatre! This company brings in top talent from across the country to create only the best in theatrical entertainment. The theatre’s grand comeback season (after spending two years on a $30 million expansion to its facilities) will knock your socks off with Stephen Sondheim’s A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Nov. 29 – Dec. 18, 2022) and Sweet Charity (Jan. 10 – 29, 2023).
Grab a seat and take in a performance you won’t soon forget!
Lighthouse ArtCenter Gallery & School of Art
(Literally) right near the lamp is the village of Tequesta, the northernmost tip of Palm Beach County and home to Lighthouse ArtCenter Gallery & School of Art. Aficionados and amateurs alike will enjoy this ‘hidden gem’ tucked away in an unassuming plaza, which features yearlong exhibitions, frequent concerts, a gift shop stacked with local art, and home of the area’s finest annual events—the Plein Air Festival, an excellent excuse to visit every March.
Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum
Ready to take your family vacation to new heights? Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum is a must-see for anyone traveling to The Palm Beaches—but especially for those who love the outdoors. The grounds surrounding the lighthouse are absolutely beautiful, highlighted by an enormous banyan tree and an amazing view that is truly second to none. Climbing the circular staircase to the top of the lighthouse is an exhilarating experience and great exercise to boot. We counted 105 steps!
John D. MacArthur Beach State Park
Underneath the shade of mangrove trees, the natural beauty of John D. MacArthur Beach State Park shines. It has the distinct honor of being Palm Beach County’s only state park, located just north of Singer Island. Guests can drive in, park, and enjoy natural events: whether you’re a fan of bird watching, bluegrass or just need to zen out while walking through the park’s two self-guiding nature trails.
