Synopsis:
The world is getting hotter, there’s unrest overseas-the seas themselves aren’t very calm-and one couple is thinking about having a child. Lungs is a smart and funny drama that follows a couple through the surprising lifecycle of their relationship, as they grapple with questions of family and change, hope, betrayal, happenstance, and the terrible pain that you can only cause the people you love.

Location: Stonzek Studio Theatre at the Lake Worth Playhouse – 713 Lake Ave, Lake Worth FL 33460

Performance Schedule: October 17th – 27th 2019

Rehearsal Schedule: Rehearsals will begin a week after auditions and will take place on weeknights from approximately 6:30 to 10pm. Weekend rehearsals also may be added.

Available Roles:

  • [M] 25-35, male, any ethnicity or body type; “not getting any younger”; partner of [W]; musician, creative-type working in a record store; eventually joins corporate Seattle; internal processor; has difficulty letting others into his feelings; perceptive, caring for his partner; not a natural leader; compartmentalizes his emotions; easy-going; starts the conversation about having a baby; lives a somewhat unexamined life; loves his partner.
  • [W] 25-35, female, any ethnicity or body type; “not getting any younger”; partner of
    [M]; value-driven citizen of the world; PhD candidate; as intellectually sharp as she is deeply felt; possesses a dry but friendly sensibility; deeply caring; believes deeply in the act of questioning, thoroughly excavating any held beliefs, practices, or feelings; an out-loud, verbal processor; possesses a strong desire to make thoughtful, considered decisions; always imagined she would be a mother, but vaguely; loves her partner.

Requirements: Please prepare a contemporary monologue from a play no more than 2 minutes in length. Actors may be asked to read from the script.
