Early Deadline (Reduced Fee): SeptemberĀ 1, 2023*
$5,000 Award + Solo Feature Exhibit of the ONE Prize-winning work

For a fourteenth year in a row, thisĀ award concretely underscores our artist-founded and artist-run nonprofit organization’s vision to reward, showcase, celebrate, and documentĀ exceptional artwork being made today, and to do this in a tasteful non-commercial yet very public way. The Manifest PrizeĀ is an award and grant intendedĀ to incentivize and supportĀ the creation of excellent work in the future. Manifest’s mission is centered on championing the importance of quality in visual art. This project is one aspect of the realization of that mission. To date, severalĀ artists working in a wide range of visual arts media have been the recipients of the first thirteen Manifest Prizes. This year’s process will select the fourteenth such award. We are proud to continueĀ this specialĀ Manifest award program.

The entry process for the 14th annual Manifest Prize award is open to works of any media, any genre/style, and any size…
There are no restrictions on submissions to The Manifest Prize. Artists who have submitted to orĀ been included in previous Manifest projects are welcome to submit to any future project, including the Manifest Prize.Ā

Works submitted must have been completed within the past fiveĀ years (2018-2023 for the 14th Manifest Prize).Ā Works must alsoĀ be available for the exhibition period of early December through mid-January in order to be eligibleĀ for the prize.Ā

Jury Process: Manifest’s normal selection process involves a complex two-part system. This award and exhibit will be juried by an anonymous volunteerĀ panel of professional and academic advisors with a broad range of visual arts expertise from across the United States. These include previous prize winners andĀ solo exhibitors, academic andĀ arts professionals,Ā and other artists with a history of exhibiting with Manifest.Ā Because of the nature of this project, works approved by the first jury will be passed through a second, and possibly a third jury round, with jury makeup shuffled from round to round. The work receiving the highest average score will be the winner and awarded the $5,000 prize. The four next highest-scoring worksĀ will be the finalists, each receiving $250.Ā

In addition to the cash prize and a dramatic feature soloĀ exhibit of the single winning work at Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati, the prizewinner will have multiple pages devoted to their winning work in the season-documenting Manifest Exhibition Annual (MEA) hardcover publication, including the artist’s statement, bio, and select jury statements. The four finalist works will be included in the MEA as well.
