The application cycle for 2023 Artists in Residence in Everglades (AIRIE) residencies is now open.
AIRIE believes artists are uniquely positioned to engage communities for a more inclusive and just future. Over the course of the 2022-2024 seasons, AIRIE is investigating how we can make the outdoors a space of belonging. Preservation of our natural environment and the fight against climate change will only be successful if there is racial equity in the movement.
AIRIE applications are reviewed by a prominent panel of regional leaders and experts in their respective fields. Panelists review applications in search of the highest quality proposals that can best make use of this unique experience to live, work and learn from the Everglades, taking into consideration the linkage between art, science and nature, as it is embedded and reflected in their work and proposal.
Following this competitive process, 10 artists or artist groups are invited to be Artists in Residence in Everglades for the 2023 calendar year.
Residents are provided a $4,000 grant from AIRIE, an air-conditioned studio cabin on park property near the Homestead, FL entrance to the park and 24/7 park access.
The deadline for applying is September 30, 2022 at 11:59pm.
