Visit the Cultural Council during downtown Lake Worth's next Evening on the Avenues as we present Evenings at the Council - Friday, October 18 from 5-7pm. Stop by 601 Lake Avenue and tour our latest gallery exhibitions, featuring artwork by the Palm Beach County Art Teacher's Association, and Annette Rawlings - plus a special live performance by local musicians, Raggy Monster.
Raggy Monster is an Indie Rock/Classical/Alternative band based out of West Palm Beach, Florida. After playing countless shows all over Florida, including Sunfest (opened for Train), Moonfest (opened for Bow Wow Wow), and Respectable Street's 25th anniversary (opened for The Misfits), and releasing their debut album and music video, Raggy is now preparing for their first East Coast tour. The story behind the name goes back to Billy Schmidt's early childhood:
Long ago, during arts and crafts time, Billy created Raggy Monster. He was his imaginary best friend/bodyguard/alter ego throughout Kindergarten. More than a decade later this simple drawing that remains in Billy's hometown of Mount Dora, FL would be the inspiration for the band's name.
Nowadays Raggy Monster (The band) has been extremely busy playing shows all around Florida and has already begun working on their next album, which Billy promises to be "more mature, creative, and blow your dentures out" than the first.
