Cultural Council Seeks Director of Arts and Cultural Education

The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Director of Arts and Cultural Education.  This position reports to the CEO and is responsible for all aspects of education programs at the Council. 

The person in this position acts as liaison to educational institutions such as the Palm Beach County School District, private schools, home school support groups, Children’s Services Council, Primetime, after school providers, universities/colleges, and others.  This position manages the following specific programs:
•    The Cultural Education Committee, a group of educators from around Palm Beach County that gathers monthly and as needed.  The Council provides guidance, leadership and training to this group. 
•    All training and capacity building for cultural organizations and teaching artists.
•    Annual “back to school” conferences for teachers in collaboration with the educational institution.
•    Portions of the Council’s website that are education-related and provide resources to educators, parents, and the public.
•    Annual Educators Guide to Arts and Cultural Education, a publication distributed to more than 12,000 educators each August.
•    Annual Summer Cultural Camp Guides, a website-based promotion for summer programs for children at cultural institutions.

A successful candidate will have an extensive knowledge of art integration, knowledge of the Palm Beach County School District, and some teaching experience.  A professional approach and an enthusiastic team-oriented attitude are essential.  As the primary management staff person at the Council overseeing educational programs, this person also researches best practices in other locations to bring that learning and those examples to Palm Beach County.  Arts integration is a primary focus in Council programs such as Building Learning Communities, a grant and capacity building program this position manages, as well as a new Teaching Artist Program.

This position is partly funded through grants and as such, the person in this position is responsible for both assisting in the grant writing and reporting process.  Candidate should have a minimum of a bachelor degree and five years experience in the field.

Cultural Council Seeks Public Relations Coordinator

The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, a non-profit entity, seeks a qualified experienced candidate for the position of Public Relations Coordinator.  This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Government Affairs and is responsible for all aspect of public relations. 

The Public Relations Coordinator is a full time position with responsibilities for coordinating, developing, distributing, managing and tracking the communications of Cultural Council activities through traditional and social media.  This position is responsible for managing the relationship of the Cultural Council with media outlets as well as interacting with the cultural industry to promote Palm Beach County as a desirable and exciting cultural destination. As such, the position engages with national and regional media, interacts with the Palm Beach County CVB, and provides photographic and content support for traditional and social media. The PR Coordinator works collaboratively with other members of the Marketing Department, and Cultural Council staff.

The position works with countywide cultural organizations individually and through the Cultural Marketing Committee to enhance Palm Beach County as a cultural destination. The position requires high website fluency and off hours participation in Cultural Council and other events in order to provide content, press releases and photographic images of activities.

The position requires an individual that is resourceful, able to handle multiple assignments in a fast paced environment, can work independently, as well as in groups to achieve results, is sensitive to deadlines, and is organized and website fluent in research.

The successful candidate should have demonstrated talents and experiences in journalism, with specific experience in promoting and describing destinations and experiences. They must also have some experience in social and entertainment journalism. The person should have a professional approach to work, and present a positive image to the public. The candidate should be able to work with groups and be extremely organized in the work environment. The ability to quickly retrieve PR information and images is important. This person often becomes the first contact with writers and others seeking to learn more about the Council and destination.

The position reports to the VP of Marketing and Government Affairs, coordinates and works with the E Marketing and Website Manager, the Marketing Coordinator, other Council Departments and outside media.
