Building Learning Communities through Arts & Culture (BLCTAC)
Year 2 (2010)
Year 2 of Building Learning Communities through Arts & Culture continues to expand and advance outcome-driven arts and cultural education programs for middle school children and their teachers. Workshops led by Dr. Gail Burnaford, an expert in arts integration, feature instructions about arts curriculum development, building artist-teacher teams and how to document and assess art education programs. Although the focus is on arts integration of any discipline with 6th Grade Social Studies, the methodology, framework and professional development curriculum is applicable and easily adaptable to any grade level, subject matter or arts discipline.
Participants/Grantees:
• Palm Beach Atlantic University Preparatory Program in Dance, Conniston Middle School and teaching artists, Jin young Lee and Gaynelle Gosselin.
• Resource Depot, Roosevelt Middle School and teaching artist Jennifer O’Brien.
• Young Singers of the Palm Beaches, Carver Middle School and teaching artist Erica Barnes.
